Fitness Friday: Find Your Motivation

www.kimdolanleto.com
Things have been slightly difficult in the fitness category because of the weather around here. It basically rained for two weeks straight only letting up the weekend, when I already had plans for a big birthday camping bash!

Needless to say...this has drained my gun-ho motivation a little. I still get some workouts in at home but for some reason I have a really hard time finding the ump to cross train if I'm not out running! (Anyone got a treadmill they want to mail to South Africa!)

So today I want to focus on what gives me motivation!

This woman here....she gives me motivation! Because you know what....I want to be proud of my body! I am a type of woman that I need to be healthy and in shape to feel proud. It isn't about how society sees me but how I feel about myself.

Everytime I open a soda or a mini chips...I feel guilt and I hate it. I feel guilt because I know it should be a treat but it is becoming a regular thing. Every time I struggle to find energy to do...anything...I feel guilt because I know I'm young and the only reason I'm tired is because of doing nothing!

You can judge her all you want for how she put it out there but this mom gives me motivation! If she can do it, so can I! You're right...I can't afford a gym membership right now but there is MORE than enough resources out there to give me the tools at home to get going! If she can look that good....so can I!

The truth is...I want to feel good. And for me that is directly related to how I look. But it is also about the effort put in to achieve that look! I love the feeling after a good run. I love the soreness in my legs knowing I pushed them. I love the signals my body gives as if it is telling me thank you!

The photo above was taken one year after Lil Mister was born. I was WAY skinny and I don't want to be there again. This isn't about being skinny. I was more embarrassed of my body in this photo than I ever have been.

So today I want you to think about what motivates you! Is it a feeling? Is it a dream look? Is it an outfit you want to fit into? Is it a lifestyle you want? Share with me what motivates you! Please!

  1. I'm not going to lie, while I want to be healthier, I do want to be skinny. I would love to be as skinny as you in that photo, but I realize I'm not built that way. There's no way with my endowments haha.

    1. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! No one can tell you what is right or wrong for you! As long as you have your happy and are healthy! That is my whole point! For some, skinny is the goal! For others, athletic is the goal! It's all okay as long as you get there healthy! I'd really give up the skinny for a couple endowments of my own...instead I look like a 12 year old! ;-)

    2. I have a certain weight range I want to get to and then we'll see. I personally think that I would look funny if I was stick thin with huge boobs.

    3. That is totally fine! Being comfortable and happy in your body is the most important! See, it doesn't help you strive to achieve a certain "look" because society says it is right and then you aren't happy with that image! My whole idea is that we need to leave the excuses....whether it is about being over or underweight! Too much are we saying I can't or I'll never and those are hindering our successes! If you have a body image of yourself then work towards that and be happy! Don't let anyone make you think you can't be happy!
