Not Comparing: Spot the Individuality

This post is part of the 2014 Blogger Challenge Week/Day in Pictures ( I choose months meaning that these are pictures of my boys in the same month, two years apart!)

Let's face it...as parents of multiples...we have a tendancy to "compare" the kids. I know it isn't right but we have all done it at some point! Baby 1 crawled at this age while baby 2 only did it at this age.....we've all fallen victim.

Today, I don't want to compare but "spot the individuality" of my two precious boys! They are each their own character (literally if our house was a play....) and deserve to have that recognized and celebrated! I feel so blessed to have these two amazing children and love how different they can be sometimes. They seem to balance each other in some areas and complete contradict in others, but at the end of the day they are who they are and we love them for it!

Top Left: Lil Mister 15 mo Top Right: LJ 15 months
Bottom Left: LJ 14 months Bottom Right: Lil Mister 14 months

Looks: Lil Mister was always kind of chunky built...frisk! Where as LJ has been our little boy from day one. However, when I look at their health charts...at this age they are the same weight! Can you believe that!
Lil Mister has those beautiful brown eyes....big brown eyes with that thick, curly, redish brown hair! His hair has always been one of my favorite things!
LJ has blue blue eyes like his Mamma and thin, wavy, bleach blonde hair! Hehe

Outside of that it is hard to just pinpoint!

LJ is our cuddle bug. This morning Hubby and I were hugging and LJ HAS to get in on the action! Where as Lil Mister has always enjoyed a bedtime cuddle but was usually on his own mission! LJ is content to play alone a lot at this age. When Lil Mister was that age....we entertained him 24/7. It was totally our own fault!

Lil Mister has always been very independent though! He wanted to do things on his own....eat, get dressed, etc. So we have definitely allowed and encouraged that. He has a very strong will. Where as LJ asks for help....a lot! He is perfectly happy sitting for you to put on his shoes or handing over the spoon for you to feed him. He can do these things..it is just easier and quicker to him if you do it for him!

LJ is much more relaxed that Lil Mister. Lil Mister would get SO frustrated at things and eventually get upset. LJ will try something and if it doesn't work, it's like he shrugs his shoulders and either asks for help or just leaves it (depending on how important it is to him).

Some things though are so similar! They both LOVE sleeping with Hubby and me. They both enjoyed Barney and Wheels on the Bus at this age and fish sticks and two minute noodles are huge favorites! LJ shows that he is just as big a fan of yogurt and popcorn as his older brother. And Lil Mister has definitely rubbed a love of cars and swings off onto his little brother!

Kisses and chocolate milk are must haves in our house and nothing beats a good story!

They are brothers, they are family, but they are individuals and we celebrate that!

  1. So sweet. It's important to celebrate their individuality.

My girls are complete opposites in appearance and personality. It's kind of cool. We really can't compare because God has blessed us with two really individual children... there is absolutely no room for comparison.

    Wishing you a blessed day.

    1. Thank you! That is so special! I love that other parents agree that it is awesome to celebrate the individual rather than dwell on it!

  3. It always amazes me to look at my children and see how alike and different they are. Physically, they look nothing alike - I cannot tell you the number of times people have asked me if they have the same father. E is a lot more high strung than C, yet she has a temper too and will let it out if she doesn't get her way. It'll be interesting to see how it goes as they get older.

    1. That is so funny! Lil Mister is almost a carbon copy of his father and everyone says LJ looks just like me! ;-) But I see a mix in both. LJ definitely has my eyes but he has his daddy's hair and both boys are built exactly like their dad! Down to the dimples at the bottom of their backs! hehe I also think it will be interesting to see how they are as they grow!

Sounds like you have your hands full as well!

    1. Exactly! I grew up an only child and my dad is a twin so it amazes me daily how different yet similar my boys can be! Thank you for stopping by!
