What's in my Grocery Cart?

Hey y'all! Oh my, I really have been excited for this week's link up! That's right! I'm back with another in the 52 week Blogger Challenge! If you haven't yet heard about it you'll find everything at Sarah Emily Blogs! Each week we join in a new topic and Sarah sets us up with a linky ;-) And y'all know I love a linky!

This week Sarah is asking us what we're throwing in our shopping trolleys (yes I had to say it that way being in South Africa and all!!). I really had to work to break this down!

How I do it:
Let me just explain.... I am all about monthly shopping! I've tried to do it weekly, heck we even tried to budget into little bank bags and do it daily! It doesn't work for us! #aintnobodygottimeforthat So, now I am an avid monthly shopper with a weekly budget for fresh groceries that cannot hold for a month (i.e. mushrooms, bread, fruit ect)

What I'm buying:
I really couldn't bombard y'all with an entire shopping trolley because we'd be here until next I grabbed a few of my favorites and thought I'd share!

I am addicted to the Lux Body Wash! Particularly the Wake Me Up smell! Not to mention that I cannot, will not, refuse to use anything but a whitening toothpaste! It's the only thing that makes your teeth feel clean! Then, my Herbal Camphor Cream... it moisturizes, as in truly, leaving you with that clean smell, not perfume smell!
Other things in my bath/ body category: Shampoo/ Conditioner- I like to change it up each month, but we always keep anti-dandruff on hand!
Deodorant, body spray, bar soap, kids toothpaste, hairspray, razors, shaving cream, face wash, face cream, make-up remover, anti-frizz hair products, heat defense hair products,  mouthwash, floss
All of these products are bought monthly! I like stock piles so regardless if we're empty or not, I purchase!
Lux Body Wash Camphor Cream Whitening Toothpaste
Bath Product Must Haves: Lux Body Wash, Aquafresh Whitening Complete Care Toothpaste, and Body Solutions Camphor Cream Herbal
Next is my cleaning products! Because I love a clean house! The first is Dettol Multisurface Cream Cleaner! This is an all purpose cleaner that disinfects! I'm addicted. Then Sta-soft Aroma Therapy fabric softener along with Ariel Auto Washing Powder which are the only products I use in my machine! Jeyes Fluid for disinfecting...bathroom and floors! And finally, Sunlight soap bar....that green bar that works wonders! I use that for so so so many purposes in my house!
Additionally, I buy bleach, thin and thick, dish soap, floor cleaner, kitchen spray and bathroom spray!
dettol sta soft ariel sunlight jeyes fluid
Clean House Must Haves: Detol Multisurface Cream Cleaner, Stay-soft, Ariel Automatic Washing Powder, Jeyes Fluid, Sunlight soap bar
Finally, the groceries! These are my top 5 items right now!
A meat hamper! I just cannot get the same quality or variety for cost in the grocery store as what I can if I buy a hamper from the butchery! Especially, my favorite one! My meat gets me through the month with only a few additional purchases at the grocery store.
Next, is my coffee! I don't think I could go back to filter coffee! I love the instant, and especially the Bold & Strong flavor of Frisco, when paired with the Ellis Brown creamer. This creamer has multiple purposes outside of coffee in my house!
Chakalaka is something we crave and absolutely love having it in the house! We prefer the butternut flavor. And finally the boys just cannot live without their peanut butter! We're loving the variety of Black Cat with it's chocolate and caramel flavors!
meat hamper peanut butter instant coffee chakalaka coffee creamer
Grocery Must Haves: Meat hamper, Frisco Coffee, Chakalaka, Creamer, Peanut Butter
I primarily do my shopping at Pick n Pay. I love the Smart Shopper rewards (which always seem to add up right at the right time!) plus the convience of online shopping! I used to drive to multiple stores, but now with Brand Match it isn't necessary! My local Pick n Pay has even edited prices at the till when I saw that something rang up for more than what it was being sold at another local grocery store! It makes it possible for me to be in and out of the shop in under an hour with a months groceries! To top it all off, I only have a R3000 budget (including groceries, meat, cleaning and bath supplies) for a month! We average within R200 either way of the budget each month, unless we decide we can get a good deal one month on a whole pig or lamb (that meat then gets added extra to make our freezer more full!). Pick n Pay truly makes it possible!

What's coming:
I am so excited to announce that I'll be sharing product reviews about these featured items over the next month or so! I just really want to show you why I am loving these must haves!

Call to action:
Do you have a must have bath/body/grocery/cleaning product? I'd love to hear about! Do you make something you think could replace my must have (i.e. homemade body wash, washing powder, chakalaka recipe)? I'd love to give it a try and write a review linking to you and your creation!! Let me know in the comments below!

5 Methods to Show Your Husband Love (with free printable)

Hi y'all! So Valentines was last week right? I'm joking here. I know when it was but it isn't something Hubby and I celebrate. Why you ask?
Well, I feel that by placing unnecessary hopes in the way we show each other love only leads to unrealistic expectations and hurt feelings. There is a lot of reasons why this particular day slips under the rug but for us we have decided we want everyday to be Valentines day!
Every day is full of opportunities for us to celebrate our love and marriage! It is an environment I want to raise my children in and an environment that nourishes both our lives!
I've come up with 5 methods to apply to my life to show my husband I love him! I hope you can use them too!

Get creative, get out of the box, love on each other!
Sincerly- I want to love my husband sincerly. I'm doing this by learning his love language. It might be so obvious but once broken down it is a great way to truly see when he needs what type of love and why! Another way to love Hubby sincerely is that I am making an effort to say thank you at least once a day (Ephesians 5:20)! What? Only once? I want you to take some time and write down every time you say thank you....just to say it! You'd be surprised how little we actually do this!
 1) Give him your undivided attention
 2) Don't interrupt him
 3) Pray for him and your marriage (Philippians 4:6-7)
 4) Tell him: I trust you, I love you, I believe in you, I want you, I'm thankful for you....

Intentionally- I'm working towards showing intentional love towards Hubby! I plan to do this through encouragement and praise. I want to support his dreams (Philippians 2:4). I want to praise the little things he does. And I want to listen, giving him my undivided attention during a set time each day hearing with my heart what he wants to share. Other ways you can give your husband intentional love:
 1) Just say I love you
 2) Leave love letters, post it notes, lunch box notes, text messages, emails.... and so on.
 3) Ask him how his day was- and just listen
 4) Give him a foot massage
 5) Hold your tongue- when that desire to criticize, correct, or fix his problems comes us....just keep quiet (Proverbs 17:28)

Consistently- I want to create ways in my daily routine that this is consistent. I plan ahead the notes I'm going to be leaving him and where I'll leave them. I plan ahead to make time for creative ways to love him. I pray for him...every single day! And we pray together!
 1) Forgive him- don't hold grudges as this impedes your ability to consistently love
 2) Take care of the house and yourself- put in a little extra effort each day to show him you're doing it for him (Proverbs 31:27)
 3) Show interest in his friends- you know those one's you're not to keen on....invite them over for a braai (BBQ)
 4) Discuss decisions ahead of time- even if it is small... mention to him that you'd like to talk about the budget or about something coming up at the kids school. Give him a short version of what it is and let him decide if you need to make the decision together or if he wants to leave it in your hands.

Creatively- Oh, this is such a fun one! It kind of ties into the other four...but it really gets you out of the box, out of the comfort zone and shows the extra effort!
 1) Come up with date nights.... even if they're at home!
 2) Do a bible study together- maybe download one or stream it from you tube
 3) Send him a video telling him why you love him, or wish he was with you, or what you're thankful for....
 4) Do something he likes- camping, fishing, sports games whatever it is.... make a plan to get involved in his hobby for a bit
 5) Write a message on the mirror while he is in the shower
 6) Leave him a note in the car, in his wallet, in the pocket of his pants...
 7) Make him a playlist that tells him about songs you have memories too
 8) Wake him up early with a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise together
 9) Grab the kids and spend some time going for a sunset drive
 10) Make him his favorite dinner (Proverbs 31:14-15)
 11) Show up at his work with lunch
 12) Do something in the house that he has needed to get to- then tell him why you did it for him

Physically- Yep, that's right ladies! Let's get physical (1 Corinthians 7:3-5)! Face crave physical attention. That is the most popular love language among men! But it doesn't always have to be about s-e-x.
 1) Grab his bum ;-)
 2) Meet him at the door and give him a proper kiss
 3) Make sure you always hug and kiss goodbye
 4) Tell him how and why you're attracted to him
 5) Plan an intimacy night
 6) Initiate it!
 7) Tell him something you enjoy in the bedroom
 8) Randomly walk past him and give him a hug
 9) Just kiss for 10 minutes before going to bed

All of this is little ways you can incoorporate love into your daily plan! Yes, write it down, put it in your planner, highlight it, set alarms to it! Make it 100% intentional! If you're into the notes idea, I've included a free printable that you can start filling in why you love your husband and leaving them for him to find!

Call to action: Do you have any ideas to add to these lists? Please leave a comment below! Then grab one idea (at least) and put it into action! Write a facebook post, a blog post, a twitter post, any thing and tag me! I'd love, love, love to hear how you're loving on your man!

Play Chef: Homemade Custard Recipe with Printable

blogger challenge writing challengeHey y'all! How was the weekend? Ours was so busy. Life in general just feels busy! And one thing I've noticed that always seems to slip is the satisfaction that comes from something homemade!

I'm back this week with another post in the 52 Week Blogger Challenge! This is finally an up to date post! And I've been looking forward to it! You can find the Blogger Challenge at Sarah Emily Blogs! I know she'd love to have you join up!
homemade vanilla custard quick easy

This week we are playing chef! It's a normal Sunday thing in my house that I cook a big Afrikaans Sunday dinner and make a dessert to go with it! Being that is so HOT around here lately the last thing Hubby wanted was the oven on even longer this weekend! So I opted to whip up some homemade custard and let it cool down in the fridge!

Home made custard is such a nice alternative to the ice cream and can go with just about anything! The boys love eating it with jelly (jell-o), or ice cream too! A traditional method is to pair it with Malva Pudding but you can through it in a bowl with some cookies, or like we did.... sit around the floor eating it straight from the bowl!

15 minute homemade custard recipe card

Even better! I've loaded this into a nice little printable for you! You can access the Homemade Custard recipe with a blank recipe page here! And below it you can get the fully blank recipe printables! Enjoy!

Do you have a Sunday tradition in your house? How about a go to recipe for a nice treat?? I'd love to hear about it! Let me know in the comments below!

52 Week Blogger Challenge: Behind the Scenes

Hey y'all! How's your week been? Mine? Blessed!
blogger challenge writer challenge

As I wrote in my Welcome Back post, I stumbled upon a great 52 week blogger challenge! Now I was a little slow to the game, but I've decided to join up and backtrack the previous weeks while catching up to the new ones!! So Monday's post will be current and fresh and on target ;-) However, this is still taking us back, back, back into week 2!
The topic was Behind the Scenes and you can find a full list of topics at Sarah Emily Blogs.
messy desk day planner blog planner
I cannot survive without my planners- a personal day planner, blog planner, church planner and farm planner!

Where I Work: I work a little bit of everywhere! No seriously! I have a terrible habit of just allowing my mind to calculate at least 3 things at a time! I spend my mornings at the church as a PA/ Secretary and Mondays plus the rest of my weekday afternoons, I am a financial administrator for a farm! I also tend to overwork myself by constantly stepping up and taking on tasks that ministries in the church need help with! With this, I not only take my blog to work with me :-( during my lunch time but I take my financial work and church planning home with me for during my down time! It creates just a little bit more of that Organized Chaos!

Motivation: My motivation is to write! I absolutely love it! I also gain motivation from my children in a sense that I want to remember these precious moments, and from Hubby in that I want to strive to be more! Mostly though, I get motivation from you guys and this:

bookshelves many books
This only two of the bookshelves that are in my office. In total- 7!

Upcoming: I have so so so many ideas for where this blog is going to go! Mostly, though, I'm letting the Spirit take the reigns and show me His vision for this page! I want it to be a happy, motivational, inspirational place that deals with real issues women face and the reality of how we face them! I want a place where I can laugh and cry through this life and share that with y'all in hopes that my testimony can help others! I want a place where we can share stories, recipes, crafts, hilarious moments and find strength when it isn't there!

desk holder planner
I just can't help it! The organized part takes over!
How: This goes back to that everywhere statement from above! I seriously have written journals (in which my highlighters become sick of me), I have my laptops (yes there are two), my Android, my blackberry in which I tend to do a lot of voice recordings when things pop into my head (next time I will try to get a photograph of the strange looks I get in the grocery store!) and I do this everywhere! Voice notes while driving the 26km to Hubby work in the afternoons or while walking down the street! I constantly am jotting in my notebook or saving files to the computer! I might be addicted :-(

morning cup of motivational coffee
And this is what keeps me going!
So that is basically it! I really hope it helped you guys get a better picture of who and what I am here behind Organized Chaos! Thanks for stopping by and take a moment to tell me where you find your motivation and what you'd like to see more of here at Organized Chaos!! Have a blessed weekend!
