So let's kick off the first Social Sunday of 2014!
This Weeks Questions:
1. Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new
year?
Not to
toot my horn, but I feel we eat fairly healthy. We almost NEVER buy take aways.
I mean literally, if it’s once a month as a treat then it is a lot. I cook
every night of the week and again very rarely use processed foods. We make 95%
of our meals from scratch. I don’t feel change is necessary at this moment for
us!
2. Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?
For me
it’s just start slow. With most things, I tend to go over board and dive in all
at once. Unfortunately, I get burnt out and down hearted because it doesn’t
work. If you’re like me at all, then you’ve probably been pretty lazy over the
holidays about, well, just about everything! So now, jumping all in is just
overkill. Start small. Don’t set a ridiculous goal thinking you have all the
motivation in the world only to realize it’s harder to reach that goal than
expected!
Set
micro goals for the next months which will eventually add up to your major
goal! Example....you want to loose a little weight! Fantastic! Rather than
telling yourself you want to loose 20 kg....set goals like you want to loose
3kg/ month for the next 7 months...etc!
3. What is your favorite thing you did over the Holidays?
Just
the time I got to spend with my kids and Hubby. Our lives are always so busy it
feels like and the holidays were no exception. But I was blessed enough to
score a week off of work and put every minute of that time into my family!
4. What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2014 that you
did not in 2013?
I
wouldn’t say these are things we didn’t accomplish in 2013. They are lifestyle
changes that we began and want to continue to grow in. Like any human and any
family we have our highs and lows. At times we’ve been right on with where we
want to be and where we want to go. At other times....we’ve strayed slightly.
We have let the business of life flounder our progress!
I’m
just as bad as the rest and want to get myself in shape. But it is more than
that. I want to create an active lifestyle for my family. We worked hard in
2013 and had gotten off to a great start after LJ was born. However, winter hit
us and I wasn’t prepared for the changes to no longer being able to run outside
like I had planned. Unfortunately, a gym membership is not in the line of
vision for our family at this time, so we will be working towards finding
things we can do with two toddlers! Expect to see recipes that continue on with
the changes we made to our budget in 2013 (including vegetarian meals!) as well
as activities and workouts you can do as a family and couples both indoor and
outdoor!
Additonally,
I am so proud of the changes Hubby has made for himself and our family this
past year. Hubby had given his life over to Christ in June 2013 and has been
eager to transform our life to that lifestyle. I’m eager to get our family more
involved here. I have a lot of ideas for activities for the kids and
devotionals for couples and the family! I’m eager to see our family grow deeper
in Christ this year!
5. Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and
why.
To be
honest, nothing major is planned for us. 2012 and 2013 were both pretty busy
years. There were weddings and babies and lots and lots of moves! I think what
Hubby and I are most looking forward to is settling down and commitment.
Hubby
gave his life over to God and I am excited to see where God is taking our
family. I strongly believe God has a calling over Hubby and our family and
praise Him for the ability after all this time to hand the reins over to Hubby
and see where God leads us!
I’m
truly looking forward to a year where we focus on our family, spend time with
our friends and just take things slow...day by day!
