MHO Monday Mingle

mondaymingle

A weekly questioner with Funny Postpartum Lady and Story of a Girl!!

This weeks theme:  Birthdays

1.  When is your Birthday?

July 9

2.  Do you normally have a big party?

No. I’m not so big on my birthday. I LOVE celebrating Hubby’s and the kids and plan each year to do something…I usually end up working on my birthday lol
3.  When are your SOs and kids birthday? Do they fall close together?
Hubby’s is June 10 (5 days after our anniversary!) LJ is December 12 and Lil Mister is January 7. So yea we have birthday….13 days Christmas….12 days birthday!!! It’s expensive!

4.  How do you celebrate their birthdays?

We usually have a braai for Hubby’s birthday. A relaxing evening with friends is all he usually asks for. The kids get a party in the afternoon with friends and family and then it usually stretches into the evening hours because the adults braai while the kids run out their sugar high! ;-)

5.  If you could have one thing for your next birthday what would it be?

New…decent running shoes! LoL and a gym membership! ;-) The winter hours here means it’s dark in the morning and when I get home from work so running becomes impossible. It just isn’t safe here. I’d love a gym membership where I could bust it out during these winter months!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button on your sidebar or in a post. Link your page or post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people!

MHO Monday Mingle-Vacations

mondaymingle

A weekly questioner with Funny Postpartum Lady and Story of a Girl!!

This weeks theme:  Vacation

1.  Do you take family vacations?
We’d like to but at this stage it isn’t happening L We have lots and lots of, umm….dreams and discussions about what our vacations will be.

2.  Did you take family vacations as a kid?  If so, what is the one you remember the most?
Not really. What I do remember was going with Dad in the semi for weeks every summer! We’d hit the road that first Sunday school was over and I’d be gone for a week, come home the weekend, and leave out again with him for another week. I’d come home for a couple of weeks and then do it all over again. I hated when our trips ended. When it was just him and me and the open road it felt as if everything was perfect. He was my best friend.

3.  What is your dream vacation, as a family, a couple or even alone?
As a family, Hubby and I want to take the boys on a road trip around South Africa. We want to wait until they’re in high school so they can remember the experience better. But we just want to load up a caravan, take a few weeks and stroll to every hot spot and some unknown wonders and beauties from one corner to the other.

4.  What is your preferred method of traveling? Ex. flying, driving, taking a train, a cruise?
I’d love to take a cruise and trains can be fun. I didn’t necessarily LOVE flying but I don’t mind it. I’d have to say though that driving is my favorite. It is so personal. It creates an experience you can’t exchange. Sometimes the memories of getting there were just as good as the vacation itself!

5.  Have you already made vacations planned for this summer, or are you planning a “staycation”?
Since summer is ending here in South Africa…no. We had a baby for our summer! ;-) hehe but we’re planning this coming summer. The boys will both be older (1 and 3) so we plan to head to the Great Grandparents in Durban….a little fun in the sun at the sea! ;-) Oh…and if time and finances will permit….a nice fishing trip…JUST THE ADULTS!! We plan to let the boys go to Ouma and Oupa for like 3 days or so and Hubby and his brother and girlfriend and I hit the road for camping and fishing and relaxing! Oooooo!!!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button on your sidebar or in a post. Link your page or post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people! This is a Blog Hop!

A weekly questioner with Funny Postpartum Lady and Story of a Girl!!

This Week's Theme: Goals

1.  Do you believe setting goals are important in life?
100%!! You can check out a weekly link up I'm in on Mondays for goals here. I am obsessed with goals and find myself setting them constantly. I love the structure and drive it presents to my life!

2.  Do you set time tables for your goals? If so is there one goal you are determined to meet in 2013?
Absolutely!! Each goal is broken down for me into smaller sections. I plan to run my first half by December of this year. I have it broken down into smaller goals of a 5km in April and building up from there with multiple levels.
I set daily goals, weekly goals, and monthly goals. I don't believe in todo lists....their goal lists!

3.  Are there any past goals that you are proud to announce you have met?
I wanted to be able to run a 5km in under 40 minutes within 3 months of LJ being born....He turned 3 months on Friday and I did it! 38:26!!!

4.  If you have children, are you teaching them about, and helping them make goals for the future?
Yes, I have two small boys. They're still to young to understand the concept of goals....Lil Mister is now 2 years old. Rather I teach him about continuing to try and not give up. I feel that is the basis for any good goal habits. When we practice throwing a rugby ball for instance...I cheer him on even when he misses and continuously say let's do it again!

5.  Do you have a bucket list? have you started to work toward any of the goals on it yet?
Of Course!! ;-) You can check it out here!!!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button on your sidebar or in a post. Link your page or post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people

MHO Monday Mingle

mondaymingle

Welcome back to the Monday Mingle!
Hosted by

This Week's Theme: HIGHSCHOOL

This Week's Questions:
1. What was your favorite memory in HIGHSCHOOL?
I would say either sports or Lauren. I absolutely LOVED the times I spent riding in the bus to and from games, the early morning practices and the Saturdays spent putting our hardword to play.
But, Lauren was my cherished one in school and not a day goes by that I'm not thinking about her.

2. If you could do one thing over in HIGHSCHOOL, what would it be?
I don't think there is enough space in this blog for that. But if I had to focus on one thing, I would have stayed away from the "wrong side of the tracks." I got involved with a lot of people and a lot of things that I shouldn't have and it let my life way off track. I wish I would have focused more on my studies instead of parties.

3. Did you have a HIGHSCHOOL sweetheart? Do you still keep in contact with him?
I did and no....enough said. Sorry!
4. Have you attended a HIGHSCHOOL reunion yet? If so, how was it? If not, what do you think it will or could have been like?
Not yet.....haven't been out of school long enough lol!!

5. Do you think you were popular in HIGHSCHOOL?  Do you think if you went back now it would be the same or different? Feel free to post any pictures of you from highschool.
I floated between crowds. Looking back no one was really 'popular' like you see in the movies. However, yes there was the in-crowd, the in betweens, and the not so much ones. I was an in-between> I had a very vast variety of friends!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button on your sidebar or in a post. Link your page or post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people!

Welcome back to the Monday Mingle!

This Week's Theme: DRAMA
This Week's Questions:
1. What does the word DRAMA mean to you?
Drama is a difficult word to define in words. It is an emotional and mental state. Sadly, some people choose to live in a constant state of drama. Drama is unnecessary emotional and mental and social strain presented into your life typically through the sharing of confidnetial information.
2. Do you like DRAMA in your life?
Oooh...I will say no. My husband would say yes I do because I tend to discuss private things among friends. This isn't to me drama however. I am not doing this with the intention of sharing any information outside of our select group and typically the discussion is a mere, lets catch up in each others lives and typically one of us knows something about someone within our 'group' who isn't there at the moment. :-/ I do not like drama when it affects my family and do my best to stay removed from drama in each others.
3. What is the biggest DRAMA ordeal you've been in?
I'm sorry but I am not going to share this because it is very personal. I will share a story though from when I was younger!
When in Middle School, I had the opportunity to speak at a school board meeting about the closing of our school. I was in the 8th grade and on the dance team. We had a basketball game that night and therefore I attended the meeting after the game in my uniform. I gave a speech that I had worked very hard on and was warmly recieved by the adults that evening.
The next morning when arriving at school I was surprised and quite caught off guard when I was rushed into the principles office. Apparently, a radio host on the morning radio had taken it upon himself to speak openly about me over the radio.
However, this was more than a mere mentioning. He stated that I deserved to be spanked for wearing such things to a school board meeting and likened me to a street walker. He tried to make it as if I was low class and attacked my family for allowing me to speak my opinion. He claimed that I was uneducated for daring to appear at an adult conference.
I was hurt and crushed. The school and my parents together threatened to sue and he was forced to give an on air apology. This little incident stuck.
The following year in High School I was again on the dance team. At our Homecoming football game, he was there handing out T-shirts. I walked across the field (in a much more revealing uniform this time!) and asked politely for a T-shirt. I then took the microphone from the announcer and publicly humiliated him for varnishing a honor roll students public image and proceeded to light the shirt of fire.
I was offered suspension or an apology. I refused to make a public apology and rather wrote him a letter. I doubt today it sounded so much like an apology and more definetly like I was keeping my spotless school record exactly that! ;-)
4. Do you know someone who loves DRAMA? Who is it?
I've known quite a few people like this in my life. I however avoid to socialize with them today.
5. How do you avoid DRAMA in your life?
I eliminate people who focus on drama in my life. I end or leave a conversation that is heading in that direction and am not afraid to tell a friend they are crossing the line in what is appropriate discussion. My personal life stays personal.

MHO-Monday Mingle

mondaymingle

Welcome back to the Monday Mingle!
Hosted by

This Week's Theme: SECRETS

This Week's Questions:

1. Without giving to much info, what is the biggest secret you've ever kept?

Ooohh….it had to do with a Christmas present. I couldn’t tell anyone except my then best friend Amy. Ya see peeps….
My Daddy-o had bought this really awesome leather jacket it Las Vegas one year. It was his most prized possession. Besides me that is ;-) It had an American flag with the words ‘God Bless America’ embroidered around it. It hung on the back of his drivers seat in his semi. He always got a ton of comments about that jacket. Then one winter….one terrible night. His truck was broke into and they stole the jacket. Just that jacket! It made him so upset he came home from being on the road…ON A WEDNESDAY. Yes…that’s right my peeps. My Daddy-o mourned his jacket.
So…I was such a great daughter that I got this bright idea some 5 years later that I would get him another one. This was our first Christmas with my parents divorced so I really wanted it to be special. First, was to track down the original flag jacket at Wilson’s leather. It was discontinued. BUT….an outlet store had one about an hour and a half away. So at 14 years old…I told some white lies about where I was and Amy drove me to buy the jacket. After that, I had to hide it. This was in September. We moved during this time.
I stressed and lost sleep about how to get that jacket out of my house without my dad seeing it. I was obviously successful.
I didn’t realize then how much work it would be to have someone embroider leather. They just don’t want to do it! I finally found one place in town. They charged me a ridiculous amoung (more than what I paid for the coat!) and made me sign a letter saying they were not responsible for damages to the coat. I explained how special this was and the whole story. They promised to do their best.
The jacket turned out perfect. My Daddy-o cried when he opened it Christmas morning and couldn’t even tell people the story for the next year! It is still special to him!
Was that too much info...sorry!

2. Have you ever kept a secret from your Significant Other? Do you think he/she has kept any from you?

Other than surprises about birthdays or friends visiting no. Outside of the same reasons…not that I’m aware of.

3. Who is the first person you would automatically want to tell a secret to?

I don’t have a lot of secrets. But Hubby Dearest. I tell people when they tell me something that I’m going to tell him, obviously unless they tell me not to!

4. Any secrets you want to get off your chest? Even if it's from the third grade, still counts.
Not that I can think of.

5. Are you good at keeping secrets? Why or why not?

Yes. I hate it when I confide in someone and they share that with others, so I am very protective over what people tell me!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button. Link your post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people!

PartyOfOne

So....I have an obsession with planners, journals, logs, and goals. I feel the insanity of it all is what keeps me sane! With all that I do (and don't do!), it's a great idea if I share some of my weekly goals with you and how I 'attack' them in my daily life. Goals are the structure to my life!
{3 for 5}
1) 4x Runs and 4x Cross Training I didn't do to terrible though. I got in 3 runs and 2 cross training sessions. I would have done better but our Ma came to visit the weekend and therefore I didn't run all weekend! :-/
2) Drink 6x glasses of water Score! And I feel better for having done this. My skin is looking great too!
3) Clean and prep at night! I did this all but one night. I've started this week off good and was on the right track this morning! ;-)
4) Make cookies with Lil Mister. We had so much fun and can't wait to post all about it!
5) Organize kids closets I'm so glad this is done! I feel relieved and have a small project in the house each day to do!
1) 4x Runs and 4x Cross Training
I've decided to keep this goal another week. I will not change a goal until I meet it 100%!!
I need to focus on my physical health. I LOVE running. If you didn't know that, clickity click that little tabby in the balloon over there >>>>>>>that says running! I have to plan to get this in with two kids and a ful time job, but it is well worth it!
2) Take one night for myself!
For a lot of people it would seem with my running that I am spending time focused on me. However, as much as that hour a day is my time it is a different aspect. This night for myself is after the kids have gone to bed and the house is picked up. I just need to crawl into a hot bubble bath, grab a magazine and unwind. Paint my toes when I'm not rushing and let my body relax. It is for the sanity of my entire family!
3) Clean and prep at night!
I've decided to keep this goal another week. I will not change a goal until I meet it 100%!!
By the time Lil Mister and LJ are asleep, I'm ready to pass out on the couch. However, this ruins my mornings as then I am pressed for time with so much to do and end up not running! So rather I've rallied Hubby Dearest in to help me and we are doing everything at night. Together it takes 30-40 minutes. This is cleaning the kitchen, making lunches, packing school bags, laying out clothes, and ensuring all toys are packed away! It is actually a lot to do if you saw my house by 8 pm!
4) Do a devotion every morning.
I used to be very good about my daily devotionals. But during my maternity leave I wasn't checking my emails as regular and fell behind. I need to get back to spending that time with God everyday at the beginning of the day.
5) Establish a morning routine to fit everything in.
Winter is quickly approaching here and it will be getting lighter later. I need to soak up the opportunity to run in the am while I still can. I need to establish LJ into a feeding routine that allows me to get out the door in the morning. Come winter, I will crosstrain in the morning and run in the afternoons. LJ is eating at my run time right now so I need to get him moved back by about an hour!

So, there you have it! Those are MY goals for the week ahead!
What about you?! What are you setting out to do?!
Link up and let us know!

By the way, if you decided to link up with us today (THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!) we just ask that you follow good 'blogging manners' & do the following itty bitty things....

This Week's Theme: KIDS

This Week's Questions:

1. Do you have any kids? If so, how many? If not, how many do you want or do you want any?
I have 2! A two year old and a 2 month old! And we are done!
2. What is the cutest thing you've ever heard a kid say?
Lil Mister was sitting on our brothers bike and says to me "passop mama, ek ry!" (translate watch out mama, I'm driving!)
3. What is your favorite memory as a kid, if you could pick one?
Staying up late on weekends with my uncles while they had band practice. That and how during the summer the whole neighborhood hung out together. We lived on a dead end street and spent morning until night together. We were about 20 kids from 3 years old to 15 years old. We played sports, hide and seek, and went to the pool. I loved always having friends.

4. As a kid, what was your favorite subject in school?
History. I love what it teaches us. I've been obsessed with the Middle Ages since I was in 6th grade and we built a papermache castle as tall as we were! That teacher was the best!
5. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Haha...what day of the week? At one point I wanted to be each of these sometimes more than one at a time...teacher, doctor, navy personnel, pilot, vet, secretary, dancer, coach, and a mom!

Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! You don't have to answer the questions, you can just repost the button. Link your post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people!

Welcome to the Monday Mingle!

This Week's Theme: LOVE
 This Week's Questions:
 1. Who was your first love?
I had many infatuations during school and there were a couple of times I would have sworn I was in love. But the ONLY time I can truly say I've been in love was and is with my husband. He was the first and the last.
 2. Do you remember your first kiss?
Umm....no is that bad? It's been so long ago and I'm sure it was a meaningless thing. I know it was years later before any relationship developed past kissing. I was very innocent for a very long time.
 3. What are your plans for this Valentine's Day?
Nothing. We aren't big on V-day. I'm baking heart shaped cookies with Lil Mister! ;-)
 4. What do you love most about your Significant Other? If you're single, what quality do you look for the most?
His determination. Hubby Dearest will never give up. He can get down sometimes but he will always move our family forward.
 5. What would be your DREAM gift for Valentine's Day?
Honestly, a pearl necklace. I LOVE pearls and think this a perfect gift for me for ANY holiday!
Okay, now it's your turn. Grab the button and questions and repost on your page!!! Link your post up and mingle with other bloggers!!! No rules, just meet new people!
